Are You Ready for the Summer of 2012?

Calling all couch potatoes!

In Ontario it wasn't much of a winter. I think I only shovelled the drive 2 or 3 times... not that I'm complaining or anything! Usually we can count on this as one of our winter activities that will help keep us fit a summer bowls and golf. I don't have a problem that way... I curl too, so quite frankly I don't miss the shovelling one little bit!

I do however like to stay in shape throughout the winter. Inasmuch as I like to watch sports, any sports, on TV and we go through our share of movies I know the importance of a regular daily workout, no matter how short or long in duration. I've picked up most every bit of fitness equipment you can imagine over the years and all have been useful in one way or another. Two that stand out for me have been: the Gravity Edge (kind of like a poor man's nautilas gym) which allows me to do 90& of my weight-bearing exercises (read healthy bones here); and more recently, the Whole Body Vibration Machine. There are different WBVM machines out there and I must warn you there are those made for lawn bowlers and golfers... and those made for serious weightlifting addicts. The former are oscillating machines that have a gentle side to side motion that they claim when used for only 10 minutes is the equivalent to a full 60 minutes of walking.

Beats any treadmill IMO!

The others are an up and down motion that, quite frankly rock the inside of my head quite violently. Unless you're into that sort of abuse I'd stay away from those units.  I'll have more to say on these units in a later blog, but it has become my go-to machine every day. If you want to check out this type of unit skim through your local phone book for a T-Zone location near you. They have a trial session in their stores where you can try out this equipment first hand. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good it really is!

Added Note: MVP Sports is happy to annouce we have been accetped to be a T-Zone rep – serving Bowlers, Curlers and Golfers in our area. Please see our T-Zone section of the website for more details on this wonderful machine!
